THE EFFECT OF THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE PROBLEM BASED LEARNING MODEL ON STUDENTS' LEARNING OUTCOMES

Abstract: This study aims to determine the effect of the application of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model on student learning outcomes in certain subjects at the level of critical thinking skills, problem solving, and students' collaborative abilities. The PBL model is a learning approach that places students as active subjects in the learning process through solving challenging and meaningful contextual problems. This study uses a quasi-experimental method with a non-equivalent control group design. The population in this study were all grade XI students in one of the State Senior High Schools, while the sample was taken purposively consisting of two classes: one class as an experimental group taught using the PBL model, and one class as a control group taught using conventional methods.
